Welcoming Fozia to the BPIC Network Board

Writer: BPIC NetworkBPIC Network

A first-generation Muslim female of Pakistani origin, Fozia has seen her share of adversities faced by her own family and her personal experiences throughout her school years. This has made Fozia the person she is today, wanting to ensure everyone has a fair, equal and rightful access to opportunities that are common amongst families who have role models and or are from higher social and financially economic backgrounds.

Today, Fozia heads up Social Value at Overbury and Morgan Lovell, with a team of dedicated Social Value leads across the UK offices. Since joining the Fit-Out division of Mogan Sindall Group, she has already set a group social value strategy identifying key areas of diversity and inclusion, ranging from monthly lunch and learn sessions, educational and employment initiatives that support community-based projects and key UK wide partnerships for all teams to access. In her short time at Overbury, she has also been instrumental in ensuring Social Value is everyone’s business. As well as six monthly road shows sharing and educating about Social Value across the UK teams, a new training video has been produced for all new starters to watch and complete, as part of their induction programme.

Fozia offers 30+ years’ experience of corporate social responsibility management for major construction and land management operations including JLL, Canary Wharf Group, and British Land, as well as several London Housing Authorities. While Fozia has been routinely successful throughout her long career, she is most proud of the work she delivered while a leading voice in the East London Business Alliance. During her time working with this group of major London businesses, Fozia oversaw multiple personal successes including managing a £1m charitable fund to ensure the Olympic Games delivered a lasting legacy in Stratford and Hackney and helping Deutsche Bank win the first ever Lord Mayors Dragon Award by leading its “Banking on Shadwell” programme. This project helped regenerate one of London’s most deprived areas, Shadwell in Tower Hamlets.

Personally passionate about exploring the next generation of Social Value key measures Fozia is a member of the National Social Value Taskforce dedicated to sharing Social Value best practice nationally and was a key member of a The Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprenticeship (CRSA) working group. The CRSA worked with the Institute for Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability and the Institute of Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IATE) to develop the UK’s first Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprenticeship (CRSA) in the UK.

Fozia offers a rare blend of experience that encompasses both blue chip corporate Social Value management experience and grass roots Social Value delivery. Over three decades, Fozia has successfully protected and enhanced the reputations of some of the world most recognised brands, often in potentially controversial development circumstances.

Welcome to the network Fozia, we look forward to working with you.
